Hello, and welcome to another exciting edition of the Weekly Soon! Proving that the dead really do walk among us, Idaho is here with your weekly dosage of AvatarMC related happenings, changes and additions!
Bending
It's that time again, and that means new moves! Our whipping boys move experts have been hard at work crafting this month's set of moves. Here's the deets:
Gliding
We are now able to turn gliding on and off for specific moves. This is great news, because now we can also enabled gliders for all elements so all benders can benefit from this awesome Minecraft 1.9 feature! Only airbenders are able to use specific moves whilst gliding, however.
Air
Gliderboost
0 CD move that grants airbenders the ability to adjust their speed while flying, only available while flying.
Airscooter
Toggle-able move that will grant airbenders quick movement across the ground. deactivate by double tapping space.
Fire
Flameblast
Cone of effect damage move, targets up to five enemies in the cone's field of view.
FireWall
Places a strip of fire on the ground, only despawns naturally.
Earth
EarthShackle
Requires source block. Binds targets, rendering them immobile and unable to use moves for a short period of time.
EarthShatter
Sends forth a powerful shockwave forward that will damage enemies.
Water
WaterAreaHeal
Requires source block. Pulls water to you before blasting it outwards, healing all nearby players. Heals more the closer you are to the bender who uses the move.
IceCage
Requires ICE source block. Pulls the ice block to you before launching it at an enemy, encases enemy in cage for short period of time.
Chat Mods
As many players have noticed, chat moderators are now on the server, and the position is open to anyone interested! We have had a great response to this position being opened, and by great we mean that we received a veritable TON of applications. As you can probably guess, it's going to take us a bit to sift through them all. Our resident Honorless Knave neighborhood Zukoman who heads up the application review will be on holiday for one and a half weeks, so please have patience. We will be responding to every application, and that just takes a bit of time!
Bug Fixes
As usual, we've also squashed some bugs to help things flow smoothly:
- Fixed chests being read only in player housing (so you can now use chests in your player houses in the Fire Nation Capital).
- Disabled enchanted books.
- Added missing respawn point in The Boiling Rock.
- Armorstands are now properly protected in Towny.
That's all for this edition of the Weekly Soon! Idaho out!

Hello everyone and welcome to another Weekly Soon! I'm Engi and I will be your guide today.
New maze
The venerable Bwake_ together with Jtox17 have brought you another exciting adventure that will reward you with not one, but two tea leaves. A three-level maze and a parkour course all in one await you!
Gameplay tweaks
We have been listening very carefully to the feedback we've been receiving, which we're very grateful for, and Week 12 is all about fixing bugs and tweaking the gameplay.
As such, we have fixed an annoying bug with the new pressman system, and the NPCs should no longer have any trouble copying long books. Additionally, packed ice and sea lanterns are now statically priced, which means that their prices will stay the same regardless of how many are in stock. This is something of an experiment we're attempting, and more otherwise unobtainable items may become statically priced depending on user feedback.
Other changes include:
- Fixed a crashing problem related to large scoreboards, significantly increasing overall server stability
- Skeleton horses no longer spawn due to lightning
Soundcloud
We are also happy to introduce an AvatarMC Soundcloud for your streaming enjoyment. It currently features all of the tracks that have been originally composed for AvatarMC.
Bending delay
Though normally we would also be releasing a batch of new bending moves, this month the release may be slightly delayed (up to one week). We are sorry for this inconvenience – rest assured that the moves will be delivered.
And that about wraps it up for this week. Join us next week for another dose of new and exciting additions!

Welcome one and all to another installment in the Weekly Soon series! This is Engi, and I'll be telling you all about the new things that have been introduced in the last 7 days.
Book copying NPCs
Further immersing the server in lore, special NPCs have been added that offer book copying services. By handing them a manuscript and paying an agreed upon sum of money, you will receive a number of copies of the book for further distribution. Note that because of this addition, the recipe for copying books has been disabled in the game.
Fixes
No Weekly Soon would be complete without a list of bugs that have been valiantly squashed by the development team, and this one is no exception.
- Fixed banner, firework and other vanilla recipes
- Fixed another tree-related bug (jungle saplings now only grow into jungle trees)
And that about wraps it up for this Weekly Soon. Don't forget to tune in next week! Adios!

Greetings, good people of AvatarMC! This is Engi bringing you a short but important notice concerning the latest Minecraft update.
As you may have noticed, Minecraft received an update today, which brought its version number to 1.9.4. Unfortunately, though generally minor, the update has introduced some changes to the network protocol.
Because of this, the server will need some time to upgrade to 1.9.4. In the meantime, we ask you not to update your game and keep it at 1.9.2, or you will be unable to connect.
Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have this issue resolved as quickly as possible.

Hello all you benders of the Avatar world! Idaho is here with yet another Weekly Soon to quench your thirst for AvatarMC news. We have some really big additions this week, so you might even say it’s the quenchiest!
Player Housing
Have you ever wanted to feel like you live in the major cities from the TV show? Now you can! We have adapted an existing player housing plugin so that it works with the homes that have already been created. Here are some super friendly mushrooms juicy details!
- Players can not buy houses outright, only rent them.
- Houses can be rented for a maximum of 30 days.
- Players can rent a house by right-clicking the sign near the front door of a house.
- Players can extend their rent by another 30 days by right-clicking that same sign within 7 days before their rent expires.
- Players can only alter the interior of a house.
- If a player's rent expires, all contents of the house will be removed and the house will be up for rental again. Staff will not be able to restore any lost contents.
- Players can also unrent a house -- for example, if they want to choose another house instead -- by holding Shift and right-clicking the sign. Players will receive a reimbursement; however, it will be lower than the house's rental price.
Right now, the only houses available for rent are located in the northeastern district of the Fire Nation Capital. Also, players may only rent one house at a time. Therefore, alts may not be used to claim multiple houses. There are a limited number of homes, so we want to make them available to as many people as we can! Rents vary dependent on the type and size of home in question, so make sure to go take a look before you rent!
New Bounty Plugin
Premiering this week is a new plugin that streamlines the bounty hunting process, making it much more user-friendly for all of us itching to get some hunting done. Here's some basic info on how the new plugin works:
Placing a Bounty
- Travel to a bounty master NPC.
- Right-click the NPC and click Place Bounty.
- From the displayed list of online players, click on the head of the player you would like to place a bounty on.
- When you click the head, you will be asked to enter an amount.
- The bounty master takes a 5% cut from the amount you have entered.
- A notification about the bounty having been placed will be broadcast to all online players.
- If you have an existing bounty set on a player, setting one again will upgrade the existing bounty by the amount you specify.
- You may monitor your current bounties by right-clicking a bounty master NPC and clicking Your Bounties.
Seeing Available Bounties
- Right-click a bounty master NPC and click Collect Bounty.
- A list of all players with bounties on them will be displayed, from most to least expensive.
- If you have a bounty in your log, you may collect it here. Bounties you can collect will have a green "Can be collected" label.
- If you have a bounty on yourself, you may also pay it off here. This will prevent the bounty setter from collecting your head. Bounties you can pay off will have a green "Can be paid off" label.
Picking Up a Bounty
- Confirmation of the target's death is placed in your bounty log. You can check it at any time using the
/bountylog
command. - Once you collect a bounty, you will immediately receive the reward.
- If a bounty you have placed has been collected, you will receive a notification (provided you are online at the time).
Getting a Skull After a Bounty
- If you have a bounty that has been collected, you can right-click a bounty master NPC and click Your Bounties to collect the head of the target player. Bounties that you can collect heads from will have a green "Can be picked up" label.
- You may only collect the head once per bounty, so don't lose it!
The bounty system has been around for months, and we are so excited to make it simpler, and more importantly, much more fun to use! Make sure to try it out on the server! You can find bounty master NPCs in most major towns and cities of the world.
Bug Fixes
As usual, we’ve been working on bugs that are present on the server (Remember that pesky tree bug?). Here is a short changelog of changes this week:
- Fixed a bug with vehicles in Fast Travel areas.
- Fixed a bug that caused dark oak saplings to grow into regular oak trees.
Builds
Last but not least, the second sprint is coming to a close for the Build Team, which means that Saturday will mark the deployment of the latest updates to the Southern Water Tribe! This update brings changes and expansions to many areas, with special attention given to the financial and industrial districts.
That's it for this week! Join us for another rousing update on all things AvatarMC next time on the Weekly Soon! Idaho, out!
